The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Budo-Egba, on Tuesday, 11th November 2025, welcomed officials from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) on an important visit to assess the hospital for postgraduate training accreditation in Psychiatry.
The visiting delegation comprised two eminent scholars, Professor Owoidoho Udofia, Former Registrar of the College, and Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim, Chairman, Faculty of Psychiatry.
They were warmly received by the Medical Director, Professor Baba Awoye Issa, the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Dauda Sulyman, and Professor P.O. Ajiboye, alongside other members of the hospital management team.
During a brief meeting, the history and development of the hospital since its establishment were presented, showcasing its steady growth and strong commitment to advancing mental health care, research, and medical education in Nigeria. The visiting team also shared insights on the College’s expectations and standards for institutions seeking accreditation.
After the meeting, the delegation embarked on a tour of the hospital’s facilities, including the wards, clinical departments, Rehabilitation Centre, laboratory, pharmacy and General Out-Patient Department. The visit offered the team a first-hand view of the hospital’s infrastructure, service delivery, and readiness for postgraduate training in Psychiatry.
The exercise marked a significant step in the hospital’s journey toward achieving accreditation to train resident doctors in Psychiatry. The management expressed appreciation to the visiting professors for their time, guidance, and valuable assessment.
